The owners called us because they noticed some rotten wood on the front of their home.
We took out all the soffits on the underside of the porch and all other areas where there was aluminum to make a diagnosis. We discovered many areas where the deck and columns were rotten. We took out all the columns, some of the deck joists and all the floor plywood. Some of the floor joists were rotten at the wall where it entered the house
When all the rotten wood was out we raised the cement footings for the columns so they were above grade. We set saddles in the concrete for the columns and proceeded to rebuild the front of the house. New solid columns, floor joists, 3/4" t&g plywood on the deck floor.
You can see all the new wood in the photo's. Once we finished rebuilding, we capped all with aluminum and caulked all areas needed. For the plywood floor of the upper deck, we used a roll on product which we put 3 coats on. The finished look was a hard textured, non slip finish.
End result, owners were very pleased.
When taking out the plywood floor , we discovered a large bee hive..
